Adoption Dossier
An adoption dossier is a collection of all of the documents required to legally adopt a child. These documents are often used to indicate that the adoptive parents are able to provide a stable and safe environment to raise a child. Some of the documents that are in an adoption dossier include:
- Adoption petition
- Birth certificates
- Certified marriage certificate
- Certified divorce decree (if applicable)
- Medical certificate – for both adoptive parents and any children living in the house
- Mental health form
- Employment letter
- Financial statement
- Copy of recent tax returns
- Proof of home ownership
- Copy of your passport
- Local police clearance
- Adoption home study
- Power of Attorney
- Guardian letter
- Letters of reference
- Copy of your United States Citizenship and Immigration Services immigration approval
- Family pictures
