To obtain an apostille from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts office with the Secretary of State, William Francis Galvin in Boston follow the guidelines:

Only documents issued in Massachusetts can be apostilled.

Please consider the following guidelines to make sure your documents are acceptable for apostille.

Considerations for notarized documents: After notarization, documents must certified by the county clerk where the notary is registered. Please note that documents issued by a Justice of the Peace, City/Town or court Clerk, will be acceptable for apostille. Make sure the notary signs, dates and include an acknowledgment or jurat statement.

Considerations for birth, marriage and death certificates must be issued and bear the signature of the Current State registrar of vital statistics Stanley E. Nyberg
Please note that Massachusetts notaries cannot notarize photocopies of vital records.
