To obtain an apostille from the Minnesota Secretary of State, Steve Simon in Saint Paul, on your Minnesota issued documents signed by notaries and public officials, please follow these guidelines:
School records: from the University of Minnesota, Carleton College, Mayo Medical School, University of St. Thomas, Minnesota State University, Mankato and Macalester College among others, must be notarized with an acknowledgement. Please request a copy from the administration or registrar’s office.
Vital records must be certified, original copies from the county. Must be signed by county/state officials and/or State Registrar, Molly Mulcahy Crawford, or Steve Elkins.
Should you need a new copy of a vital record, please contact the Department of Health, office of vital records.
Should you need a new copy of a certificate of marriage you can request one from the county where you got married.
Photocopy signatures are not acceptable. All documents must be originals and correctly signed according to notary rules.
Notarized documents must have an acknowledgment statement, dated and signed with a valid up to date commission.
Divorce decrees must be certified copies, stamped and with raised seal.
