To obtain an apostille from Washington State Corporations Division of the Washington Secretary of State in Olympia please consider the following guidelines to make sure your documents will be acceptable for apostille:
Considerations for vital statistics: documents such as birth, death certificates must be certified copies issued by the State Registrar or Health Officer. This certificates do not need to be notarized. Birth and death certificates are provided by the County Health Departments .
Considerations for marriage certificates: must be issued by County auditors.
Considerations for divorce decrees: must be issued by the Superior Court Clerk. Clerk, some counties have Single Status Certificates.
State and County Officials:
Must be recognized as officials in the State of Washington County’s (Deputy Clerks, Deputy Auditors, Records Officers, Health Officers/Registrars) and Auditors for Certified Copies of Marriage Certificates
Considerations for academic documents: diplomas and transcripts issued by a high school or the University of Washington, Washington State University, Western Washington University, The Evergreen State College, Seattle University, Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University and Gonzaga University among others. Please contact your school and request notarized copies of your documents form the principal or the University registrar bearing the school seal.
